  2. Hi, I'm Jason (aka Planty) and I live in the UK (in a small city in the North of England called Wakefield). I'm not a Catholic (an Anglican). I'm married with 3 young kids I'm a sports nut, which just about takes up 99% of my spare time! I also run a Youth Group in my local Church for older teenagers.

I regular listen to 3 shows on SQPN, The Daily Breakfast, Rosary Army and Catholics in a Small Town.

I've a blog over at www.resurrected.co.uk and I'm on Plurk or one of the other micro-blogging sites (my username is planty on almost all of them) and would love to hook up with other SQPN listeners. I'm also on xbox live if any poor gamers want a non too challenging online match anytime

Hi, I'm Michael and I live in New Jersey with my wife and three sons. I am a cradle Catholic, but sort of lost it for a while. I have a long story of my journey back to my faith, that I won't burden you with it here (I'm sure lots of us have long stories, and many are more interesting than mine). A very significant part of that story is the wonderful SQPN people and podcasts. My job is as a computer programmer.

Quirks: I enjoy astronomy, philosophy, being a dad, ethics, cooking, corny puns and being a dad. I'd love to be a podcaster someday, but I worry I wouldn't be very good at it. I regularly listen to the Daily Breakfast, Healthy Catholic, Catholic in a Small Town, Catholic Under the Hood, and iPadre (I have a 40 minute commute each day each way to work).

  5. Hi, My name is Theresa. I usually try to get the name Istra on forums and such because I like C.S. Lewis' Till We Have Faces so much. I'm a convert of a while back, but because I struggled through long periods of doubt and sickness, I'm still quite an infant Catholic. My significant other visited the cathedral and two other churches with me and then decided to go through the year long classes himself. A lot of times I think he is even more devout than me! Originally he was jealous of all the attention Father Roderick was getting from me, but now I have him listening to the daily breakfast as well!

Please don't quit broadcasting the Daily Breakfast completely. We'd miss you too much.

  6. Hi, my name is Eliana, and I live in Seattle, Washington. I'm a cradle Catholic, but I've been a lapsed Catholic for the past 9 or 10 years. Lately, I've felt myself called back to the Church. I've been attending mass again only since last week. Listening to the Daily Breakfast was has really helped me in my decision to return to the Church. (As Micheal said, there's a long version of this story)

Thank you Father Roderick for the work that you do. I feel a kind of happiness and peace since my return to the Church that I have not felt in a long time. Your show definitely has been a part of that return.

I enjoy reading, writing, yarn crafts, cooking, history and playing dress up (via the SCA and a steampunk group, that's me in some of my steampunk gear to the left)

    Hi everyone,

My name is Gerran and I was born on Feb. 21, 1983 in a tiny village near the Dutch town of Zwolle. That would be in the central east of the Netherlands. I was born and raised catholic, but stopped attending mass when I was about 18 years old. Recently I started going to Church again, because I missed it. I wouldn't really call myself catholic, but "I'm working on it"

I studied chemical education and industrial design but didn't finish either of those studies. Instead I started working in the theatre as a freelancer. I work for a theatre group that makes family shows with puppets, and for the theatre here in Zwolle. I do lights, sound, help with load in/out and build the decor of visiting theatre groups and .... well, what's not to do in a theatre?

Hope this is enough, otherwise - feel free to ask!

Greetings! My name is Jeff and I am from Louisiana (the New Orleans area). I am a husband (who celebrates his 10th anniversary with his bride on Friday of this week) and a father of three beautiful children, ages 9, 7, and 6. I am also a teacher. I teach Spanish II in a Catholic high school. I am also the director of the Confirmation program in my parish.

I love Macs, new media, reading, and listening to podcasts. I would consider myself to be a "Catholic Foodie" because I love good food and I love to cook. By the way, I am currently preparing to launch a new podcast called The Catholic Foodie.

I first discovered SQPN about two or three years ago. When I purchased my first iPod I starting looking for catholic podcasts and came across SQPN. I regularly listen to The Daily Breakfast, Catholic in a Small Town, and Catholic Under the Hood (though I also listen to others from time to time).

I am very happy to be a part of the SQPN family... and I love keeping up with everyone via Twitter, Plurk, Facebook, uStream, and now these forums!

    Peace!

I am William Wood, I live in Tallahassee, Florida. My first SQPN podcast was The Secrets of Harry Potter, Episode #1. I was searching itunes for Harry Potter podcasts and saw that it was release that week and was in the top 50 podcast downloads and loved it! I started listening to the Catholic Insider the same day! I love the first podcasts of the C.I., my favorites are the ones in Rome awaiting the passing of John Paul II and the announcement of Pope Benedict, they were awesome and listen back to then every once in a while. I am not Catholic, but am very moved by it and have a love of the Saints. I make at least 1 all twine knotted Rosary every week and give them away(Thanks to Greg and Jennifer) and have read all of the Harry Potter books at least twice and not telling how many times I read "The Deathly Hallows". My favorite of the books is "The Goblet of Fire" and favorite movie, so far is "The Prisoner of Azkaban"

My name is John Clem, and live in Charlottesville, Virginia. I bought my first iPod this past February and began to listen to the Daily Breakfast, and became a big fan of Father Roderick. Now, I am a regular listener of the DB, iPadre, and Healthy Catholic. I was raised in a Catholic family with European roots in England, Ireland, Germany, and Denmark.

I am very proud of my two relatives in the priesthood, and they inspire me by their good work in the church:

    1) Father George Pope, my uncle, who just celebrated 50 years as a Holy Cross Father serving in Bangladesh. Uncle George has served the poor helping to run health clinics, and was honored to have met Saint Mother Theresa of Calcutta.
    http://www.nd.edu/~ndmag/au2004/gpope.html

    2) Monsignor Charles Pope, my cousin, is a pastor at a historic African-American Catholic Church on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. He leads a vibrant community, and their parish serves as a beacon of hope in DC. I highly recommend going to a mass there to hear wonderful gospel music and inspiring homilies. Charlie was recently honored to be on the cover of US News & World Report-- saying the Latin Mass at St. Mary's in Washington. Monsignor's homilies and teachings are available on his website:

I keep busy in Charlottesville as a social worker serving people with developmental disabilities at The Arc of the Piedmont. I have been involved with social work in the field of mental health for 18 years.

Thanks again to Father Roderick for helping me be inspired to be a Healthy Catholic. I am on the journey to lead a healthy lifestyle to lose 200lbs, and am listening to Fr. Roderick's Healthy Catholic to stay on-track. I am continuing to work on eating healthy and exercising, and am motivated by the SQPN community and their support and prayers. Thanks for playing my feedback about Disc Golf, my exercise of choice:

Thanks to the SQPN community for keeping my brother Joe Clem in their prayers. My brother is serving in Iraq and practicing psychiatry with the US Marines. Me and my family are going to Newport News often to help his wife and six children during his absence. Joe is also an active member of Youth Apostles.

Thanks also to Fr. Roderick for playing the music from my brother Mike's band, Eddie From Ohio on your podcast. We have received a good bit of positive feedback.

I pray that SQPN will continue its important ministry.

  14. Howdy! I'm Lino and am living in Guadalajara, Mexico (try saying that 3 times fast :P). I speak fluent English and Spanish, and am learning Japanese. I'm a cradle catholic though it wasn't until much later in my life that I really started to get into my faith (and being in american schools that didn't discuss religion didn't help.)

I've been enjoying SQPN's shows for quite a while now and slowly getting to like more that I previously didn't have much interest in. I really dig the "secrets of" shows and hope to see LOTR brought back from the dead soon.

I'm a graphic designer who's finding what to best focus my creative energies on. I really enjoy video games, photography, learning about cool new technology, science, improving my faith and knowledge of it, animation, and music.

    Hi everyone -

I grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey and in Bradenton, Florida but after living most of my adult life in the Hartford, Connecticut area, I now find that I've been living in Kansas City for just over 10 years. I must be getting really, really old because that sounds like a lot of years! Gadzooks!

I started RCIA in August 2007 and on April 22, 2008 I entered the church, was confirmed, had my marriage convalidated, and received my first holy communion. My husband (a.k.a. "Old Man") has now just started RCIA and his Rite of Welcome is this Saturday, November 15th.

A couple of years ago, I wanted to learn how to make rosaries so I did a Google search for resources and came upon the Rosary Army website. I began to listen to their podcasts and before long I also began listening to the iPadre podcast (before it was part of SQPN) and the Catholic Vocations podcast (yay, Marc!) and also the 15th Station podcasts (yay, Gavin!). My job is pretty much crunching numbers, so I listen through my computer while I work.

Thank you, SQPN, for creating this forum!

Hi everybody, I live in central Alberta, Canada. I was born in a french Canadian Catholic family and was baptized a week after being born. When I was in my early teens, my parents had their Catholic faith challenged by well-meaning evangelicals and they didn't know how to defend their faith. I was in the protestant world for the next thirty years or so. I felt a calling home to the Catholic Church at this time and was confirmed at the Easter Vigil. I enjoy genealogy, podcasts, apologetics and running.
    Thanks SQPN

Hello, I was born in Toronto,Canada and during the school year teach in Northern Ontario near Thunder Bay. I first heard about the Daily Breakfast through itunes when I was searching for Catholic podcasts, and first downloaded early last March, I enjoyed Fr.Roderick's scenescapes in Rome on his bike. I went to Rome last March and had to connect in Holland via Amesterdam airport before flying into Rome,I also enjoyed his podcast about his visit to Canada, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal last spring.
I enjoy a lot of things that Father Roderick talks about, movies, games (I just bought my first game system a PSP, I wanted to use it primarily for Skype. I enjoyed his podcast walking through the Simpsons studios and I also like his 10 reasons why Walle-e is a Catholic movie, made by pixar films an apple and disney venture, I like his knowledge of computers, and travel and health, and excercise.
I am a Catholic elementary teacher and speak some Ojibway, English, Spanish and a little French. I took my first trip to Europe this past year, Rome and the Vatican and saw and heard Pope Benedict speak in a Wednesday general audience, I also saw Pope John Paul 11 at World Youth Day in Toronto in 2001 and was a youth leader with our church and brought the high school kids to see him. After visiting Rome in March, I flew back to Europe in July to continue my European road trip to London, under the English Channel by train to Paris, then a short flight to Barcelona, and another high speed train ride to Madrid. I visited all the famous Catholic churches, museums, the British Museum,Art galleries, the Louvre, the Prado, ate at some very good gourmet food at restaurants, ate street food, market food, stayed with some nuns in a convent in Rome, stayed in hotels in France and Spain, practiced my French and Spanish and just enjoyed the cultures. The Best City I visited was Paris, not so busy and easy to walk around in the neighborhoods, I used the subway, and felt quite safe, fantastic bread, pasteries, bistros, wine, walking, dogs, cinemas, parks, Notre Dame, etc. I usually travel to Mexio usually once a year and will be there on Christmas Day for a week and will help a local church and a wonderful Christian lady named Vera from Tacoma,Washington, who gives food and clothing each year to the families living in and near the dump in Puerta Vallarta,Mexico. This will be my 4th Christmas Day helping her give to these beautiful Mexican families and children.
    God Bless,
Geoff from near Thunder Bay, Ontario,Canada.

Although my hometown will always be Austin, TX (you can take a gal out of Texas, etc.), I currently live in Paris, France after a stint in DC (and have also lived in Germany). I am a married cradle Catholic mom of 2 who is active in her Church and teaches Catechism. Previously perfunctory in my 'Catholicity', I actively felt a call to conversion shortly before the death of JPII (how active? Jumped up from my desk at work and hoofed it to the nearest church the day before he died). Professionally, my background is in nonprofit fundraising and management, and after many (many) years away from school, I'm finishing up an MSM with a concentration in Nonprofit Management.

Quirks? Lots. Confirmed geek who built her own computer years ago when that actually made sense. LOTR? HP? Star Wars? Firefly... Farscape? yep yep yep yep yep. Guilty as charged. Movies? Would you believe my college minor was German Film? I am also a huge fan of Medieval history, art and music. I think God used broken strings when he made my Sacred Harp, however, so I am an avid listener rather than player or singer of the latter. As to the former, my kids are probably heartily sick of being dragged to yet another monastery, yet another castle, yet another church, yet ANOTHER museum--but they sure do have saintly iconography down pat (arrows? *sigh* Saint Sebastian, Mom. Wheel? Catherine. Tower? Barbara. Yes, Mom, before you ask: the bald guy with the sword is St. Paul and Peter's got the keys). Gadget freak who loves retrochic and also likes to cook. And if wishes were horses and beggars could ride, my steed would be a Maserati Quattroporte. Black, with tan leather interior, please. *drool* Voila!

  19. Hey this is Colin the Music Man.

I currently live in Lowell, Massachusetts in the USA. I was born in Toronto Canada and moved to the US in 1995. I work for a major financial services company in their internal technical support. For recreation I like to play Xbox and World of Warcraft; I brew my own beer; I'm an amateur photographer; and when the weather's nice I like to cycle long distances. I'm a huge fan of Father Roderick and the Willits.

  20. Hi everyone!

Some of you guys know me from Twitter & Plurk and in the uStream chatroom (I'm Calvero on all those as well ). For everyone else: My name is Kim and I'm 35. I'm a divorced single mom of two girls (9 and 2 yrs) and we live in central Florida. Been a Protestant all my life, coming from a non-practicing Catholic dad and Protestant mom. And I have been seriously thinking about attending a Mass.

My quirks: I never owned an iPod, though I do have a 1/2 gig Samsung mp3 player and a Creative Zen Vision M 30 gig. I'm also a gamer, history nerd, reader, trying to get back into podcasting, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Nerdfighter (so glad to see another NF here! DFTBA!), and a classic comedy fan.

Before becoming a staff member of the church, I was a marketing executive - specializing in communication. I am really getting into the whole new media thing and hope to take an active role in it. Greetings all. Those of you in uStream chatroom know me as lyn_f ... I am from San Diego, California, but am currently living in Durham, North Carolina (*waves at ncconch1*). I am an organic chemist by training and education, but of late have been working as an organist/choirmaster. I stumbled upon the Daily Breakfast via the Secrets of Harry Potter, and I admit to being a big Harry Potter fan, being rather active in the HP fandom.

Hey, y'all. Okay that's fake but I hail from coastal North Carolina. My name is Karin and I grew up on "lang island, NY" but have lived in NC longer than NY now...I was a cradle catholic that was confirmed and never went back to church b/c my parents could care less about church. As a young adult in Frankfurt, Germany, a wonderful woman took the time to share Christ with me and they both forever changed my life. I was in the ordination track for the united Methodist church. I was also married to my wonderful, cradle catholic but active hubby for 3 years before I returned to the Catholic Church.

We are the proud parents of two boys, William (8) and Ben (7). Dave and I have been happily married for 12 years and I have been a SAHM for 8 years. I am currently working as an adjunct professor (wow, that sounds important!)for a local college as the New Testament, Old Testament and Intro to Christianity. I am psyched and to be working a job that does not interfere with my family.

Hubby got an ipod for me for our anniversary this year and I am sooooooo hooked on sqpn! I love it all....my ipod is always with me....it's a good drug right? Especially when you are listening to the saint cast or the ipadre...RIGHT?

Hello all. My name is Michelle. I was born and raised in Michigan, I'd lived the past 6 years in Missouri and now I live in Guatemala City. I'm a Fulbright scholar working on my dissertation here until December 2009. I'm single and I've been a Catholic all my life but I haven't been to church since December only because I haven't been able to find a Catholic church where I live (I just moved here in January).

I've been listening to Fr. Roderick since the Catholic Insider #3 in 2005 -- since the very beginning. I can't imagine missing a show and like many of you, I've been influenced in ways that I never thought. Thanks to dear Fr. Roderick, I started watching Lost and Prison Break and now I'm thinking of taking up XBox when I return to the states just to play Fable II. I don't listen to any other of the SQPN podcasts; none of them seem to have the "pull" that Daily Breakfast has.

Quirks? Hmmm... my Bachelor's and Master's degrees are in Linguistics and Psycholinguistics respectively, and my doctorate is in Afro-Hispanic Linguistics so I'm a language lover on the most deepest level. My dissertation has to do in part with Caribbean and Latin American history so I'm very interested primary source documents (original documents by the original author/writer in their language instead of current books by some interpreter/author). I'm on Facebook, Twitter... what else... I can't live without my iPod. Take away my cellphone (Treo), I'm living just fine without a microwave and I wash all my clothes by hand. But take away my iPod and there will be ...well, you know. I'm a huge HP fan and I have all the HP movies and audio books on my iPod (yes, I found a way).

I contributed a "My Part of the World" recently, so maybe you all will be hearing more about what I'm doing here in the coming weeks. Nice to meet you all!

  26. I recognize a few names from Plurk and Z-chat, but a quick introduction. My name is Fr. Cory Sticha, and I'm a priest for the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings in eastern Montana. I've been a priest for just over 11 months (as of this posting), so I guess you can say that I'm still just learning.

I look forward to visiting with you all, and it's great to meet all of you!

  27. Hey, my name is Phillip. I absolutely love to debate(don't worry, I won't get anything started here). I used to be a Christian but, through debate, became agnostic. Truly, I think that Christianity has most of the morality right, I share many Christian views.

The kind of music I like, in now way, reflects my morality. Bands like Linkin Park, Green Day, Three Days Grace, Taking Back Sunday, etc.

One of the most time consuming thing I do is spread my opinions and improve upon them based on news facts that I learn while spreading it.

As for my SQPN history, I found your "Dwarves Of The Blue Mounains" podcast on my ipod, not knowing I had downloaded it. I listened to it and thought, "What a loser, life much?" For some reason, I got the rest of them and learned you were a priest and were getting out and spreading the word of god and related stuff. I then thought you were the best podcaster I have ever heard(to this day, only passed by Friday night Cranks). It was like virtual crack, addicting.

  28. Hi! My name is Mary and I'm a Catholic homeschooling mother of eight who wonders if she should be on this site! I don't recognize a lot of the lingo. We have a family business (www.Roman-Catholic-Catechism.com)that we care a great deal about because it is a result of our learning the Faith more and more as we taught our children! We love the Faith! It is what makes our family happy.

'Might not have much time to check in due to so many duties, especially as school starts. 'Hope all of you have a good summer.
