  1. SQPN will soon be updating its website and opening up a few more goodies. Do you have any suggestions for how we can make the website and associated technologies better for you as a community member?

well...right now for some reason, I cannot see comments under the individual shows when I click on them from the main page. I can see a few comments listed on the upper right section of the main page, but when I click on them I just get the show without comments. I'm using Firefox 3.0.5
    thank you.

I'm not sure this is the place to say this, but like RepCom1140, I cannot see any comments under the shows.

    Also, I am seeing:

    AudioPlayer.embed(”pod_audio_1″, {soundFile: “http%3A%2F%2Flibsyn.com%2Fmedia%2Fdailybreakfast%2FDB-597.mp3″});

in all of Fr. R's (and maybe others) list at: http://sqpn.com/category/talkshows/daily-breakfast-with-fr-roderick/

    Thanks David!

  4. We've temporarily disabled comments on the website and replaced the comments sidebar with the latest forum posts. This was an intentional move to showcase the forums.

Eamonn - regarding the embedded code, this is a problem with our new theme engine and should be fixed before the end of next week. The code will only appear when you are in a "category" view page. You can see the player if you click on the post title and view that page. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your support.

Right now I subscribe to the Daily Breakfast,Catholic in a Small Town, Catholic Moments and Saintcast on my zune, but have been unable to subscribe to Catholic Family or Catholic under the hood. Is there a way to do that? Is there a particular URL to paste in order to subscribe since they aren't in the zune "market place"?

I love SQPN! Awesome job of using new media!
    Thanks!

First thing to be said first: Thank you for the work everybody puts into maintaining SQPN.com. I know, how much work it is to run a webserver and to maintain a website.

Concerning the comments: P L E A S E enable the comments again... They were the reason, why I returned to SQPN.com on a daily basis.

I understand that you want to push the forums and I think, it is a good thing to do. But I am not quite sure, if this works the "hard" way. Right now, it is a pain that there is no quick and easy way to comment on a show and to see reactions of other SQPN community members. I miss that.

Another side effect: with the comments disabled, the Wordpress template looks broken (if you click on a particular episode). And this may even have the result of people leaving the website...

I can only think about one "good" alternative to comments: to have a thread in the forums to every episode and to display those posts beneath the episode's post on SQPN.com. In that way, the comments would become part of the forums.

An example: http://revision3.com/tekzilla/tzces2k9/ (click on Episode Discussion, everything is part of their forums)

The only bad thing about that: there are visitors and listeners, who are not willing to register. So there might be less reactions to the shows.

If you are working on something: is there any chance that you could restore "the good old comments" in the meantime until it is ready?

  9. There is an incompatibility between the WPMU version we are running and our theme, which breaks the comments. That is why we turned them off and encourage people to use the forum for the time being. Even though it is a bit more cumbersome for visitors, posting comments also required entering name and email address each time you wanted to react, whereas with the forums that is a one-time effort.

So there is no quick-fix for this, we continue to look at solutions, but please use the forums in the mean time.

Sorry, but I don't know who else to ask- when I try to close the SQPN.com page I get a "block" appearing that says:
    Internet Explorer Script Error
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
    Code: 0
    URL: http://sqpn.com/
Do you want to continue running script on this page?
Yes or No box is at bottom
No matter which I check it just freezes everything and won't let me close the page so I have to do control-alt-delete to end the program and exit.

Is this my computer's problem or something from the webpage?
    Thanks,
Bonita (trying so hard to be a geek but obviously failing miserably...)

  11. Hi Bonita, could be one of those infamous Internet Explorer incompatibilities; which version of Internet Explorer do you use?

I can really recommend Firefox (www.firefox.com) as an alternative browser, IE is pretty lousy when it comes to website standards.

    Father Roderick,
The episodes of your trip to Rome were fantastic!

Another great set of podcasts, was when you talked about your spiritual journey, and decided to become a priest.
I have been searching for them but could not find them in the SQPN archives, or at itunes.
Are they still available? Thanks, Michael

I finally found the podcasts I was looking for in the “archives” under April 2007. Daily Breakfast #284, 285 and 288. I highly recommend them. Here’s a link to the first one. http://sqpn.com/2007/04/11/daily-breakfast-284/
    Enjoy, Michael

  16. I think having the RSS feed address for everyshow was helpful. I use a Zune and when my computer crashed I had to try and find the feeds for all the SQPN shows. I never did find one for Catholic Family. Thanks for putting them in the forums here but maybe a standard page layout on the SQPN page for eachshow link might be helpful. For example the obligatory iTunes link, the RSS link, a link to the shows homepage if they have one and maybe a link to the forum for the show.
